I've planted some 5 year old corn seed before. It came up, but did not have much vigor and did not yield well.

With that said, I've also planted some corn that was 4 years old and it was one of the best yielders that year. Naked corn seed is usually good for 3 years, but I've seen some seed treatments that killed the germ after one year.
