I use only 12.5 ga. red brand.  Have used the HT never again, to hard to use.  Braces, what ever you like, we use a hedge brace with the Y on the end diagonal and a wire going the other way with a twisted in it.  We use only hedge for corners and gates, have a lot of hedge that needs to be used!!!
