If you live in IL, the answer is no. State of IL has a 4M exemption. If it is that simple, I would probably have a living trust set up, just to keep a judge out of it. Other issue, unless you are going to die next year, the estate will eventually grow and create an estate tax issue. Problem I am finding with all of this is that the attorneys who work in it, are way to greedy.
