A couple thoughts for the OP. Talk to several firms. Find someone you are comfortable with. Contrary to popular opinion, there are a lot of good lawyers, who genuinely want to help you. When you eventually find an attorney, listen with an open mind. He or she may have an idea that doesn't fit your mindset but might well work the best. Every situation is different and a "cookie cutter" approach won't work most of the time. You're trying to preserve assets for future generations to build upon, don't be afraid to spend a little extra on a good attorney to set it up. As some of the earlier posters eluded to , don't tie the heirs up so tight , they have no ability to add assets. The old "someday son this will all be yours" idea is not accepted as collateral.
