There is a lot of estate planning advice to be had right now and a lot of it is NOT good. How many millionaires are buying life insurance to help with buyouts and taxes? It is pure nonsense.
You're thinking correctly and I wouldn't worry too much about the hourly rate of an attorney. If they do what you want in an efficient manner and can offer good advice their fees are inconsequential.
