Texas | I got my CDL in waxahachie. Paid $500 to rent a truck. They let me drive the truck through the actual road course and gave me tips and then I used it for the test. I had a lot of experience pulling big goosenecks with pickups and had driven dump trucks but I had never driven a semi until the day I took my test and I got a 92 on the road test. The written tests are not hard either I read the book one evening and finished it the next morning and went and passed all the tests. Did not go to any schools or anything like that.
If you don't care about being able to drive something with air brakes you can get a class a CDL with an air brake restriction by doing the road test in a 3/4 ton pickup with a tandem dual gooseneck.
I thought you were in the Lubbock area for some reason. I have a semi with a flatbed and wouldn't mind moving some cotton when I am not busy but I ain't going to drive to Bryan to do it haha.
