I'd really think you'll have very little trouble with allelopathy this far north.... We just don't get the growth In the spring.
I've done a fair amount of spring strips in Cereal rye.....it's a none issue with as little spring growth as I'd assume you'd get in the spring.
With that said, what I've went is TwinRow covers.....should make things even easier I hope,especially with fall strips,but we strip between the twins
