Subject: RE: trying to gain confidence planting corn in live cereal rye.

Mercer County, Ohio on the Indiana line
How much starter N did you put on with the planter? Anything in furrow? I've got 50 acres of corn going into rye this year and as long as it's not dry I'm hoping to plant green.

Planting brown didn't work for me last year when it got a little wet between termination and planting.

I've read that thread every time you put the link up, but I'm still trying to build confidence in my plan.

Planting green-
4 gallons 9-18-9 in furrow with keetons.
15 gallons 28% 2x2 with JD single disk openers.
Narrow wave No-till coulter.
2 yetter spike closing wheels.

Spraying within 5 days with 5.6oz Corvus, 1.5 lbs atrazine, crop oil to burn down the 1.5-3' tall rye.

I'd side dress with coulters at v4-v6 with the remaining 100 lbs N for a 180 bu yield goal.

This field is historically a very clean crop of corn. Maybe a little lambsquarter trouble if it's allowed to get tall in rr soybeans.
