Iowa | I'd be inclined to put the personal accounts and your wife's business on spreadsheets and be done with it. That is simple, flexible, easy to backup without putting your stuff on someone else's computer, and works from one computer and operating system to the next (or at least it has for me with Excel on windows based computers).
Lot's of people have had good experience with purchased accounting software. I've used it, but generally found it to be more trouble than it was worth for my accounting purposes. -I only mention it because spreadsheets seem to be an overlooked alternative. It may or may not be best for you.
