Little River, TX

With a computed CEC in the 30 range, with out looking at the Labs ideal chart you would want about 4200 ppm to 4800 ppm Ca.

So your calcium amount may be a bit low.

The usual idea of Gypsum is to flush out some of the Mg and that might be a good idea. I suggest your Ideal Mg level would be a fourth of your soil analysis.

Using the back side of the Gypsum story you could raise your calcium levels with out increasing your pH any. The usual idea is to add sulfur to a soil with out effecting the pH.

Might include Ammonium Sulfate in your nitrogen program. Our old friend Soil Life advocated a Fall application of ammonium sulfate, for your general location.

I like the Text saying All Years confirm with plant analysis. For my alfalfa I would take a plant clipping and a soil analysis probe at the same time and same location. Now I simply use my hay analysis to monitor soil fertility. Works HERE.

With your pH I hope the LAB is using the Olsen Chemistry not Mehlich or Bray.

What do I know? A Hay farmer, in Texas, with calcareous soil, and a measured 50 CEC high shrink clay soil.
