Pat, depending on how long it's been covered or saturated, they(roots) may not be dead.....but it will take a Dr's prescription followed precisely of rain to bring those areas back to where they will produce any fruit??? have seen corn roll like that many times from saturated soil, now if it turns dry on it with lil to no rain? those areas will burn up like kindling.
