WY, OK

This has nothing to do with volcanoes. Their cooling effect is short-lived -- and that is IF they managed to inject considerable aerosols high into the stratosphere. The volcano in Iceland was too weak to do that, for example. In fact, Pinatubo was the last volcano to have a notable effect on temperature, and that only lasted 18 months. Far weaker, high latitude volcanoes are not the cause of this ridge-trough pattern.

You'd be wrong but won't believe it.  Both Grimsvotn, in Iceland, and Sheveluch, in Russia, which both blew in 2011 put enough ash and aerosols into the Stratosphere and increasingly cooled the polar air mass for at least 3 years.  The last time these kind of eruptions happened with subsequent smaller and some larger eruptions in the same places was 1780.  On top of cooling the polar air mass, which is the trough that is blocking all the Western heat, the droplets the volcanic contaminates attach to end up making larger precipitation events, like Buffalo's 7' of snow this year, or back in 2013 out 10-15" rains in one week in early September which was also the same front that dumped several feet of snow in the Black Hills.

Now if we want to get into more long term impacts we have to delve into the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, Madden Julian Oscillations and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation which then break down into wether we will have an El nino, La Nina or El Nino modokis.

But I am sure none of those things have anything to do with it, it is all because humans are putting limited amounts of CO2 in the air.  The arrogance of man never ceases to amaze me.  It is all about "us" and we cause or fix all things in nature.

And also if those volcanoes spewing crap over 15km in the air didn't get high enough to cause any problems then how the hell dies the exhaust coming out of my tailpipe at 18" cause a problem?
