I bought a 6 Tb drive from Amazon for around $350, bought a external drive from amazon for a few hundred. Not only frees up a lot of space, but is also a great backup, easy to use. Transfer all your files to the big external drive, then keep adding new important stuff to the external. You can then plug in the external to a new computer if you purchase one, and still have all your files.
