Eastern North Carolina | In a very warm year, you may get some to mature, but it is not likely. The closest I can think of to your typical summer length would be an experiment we did on 7 acres in 2013. We are in eastern NC & tried some double crop cotton behind wheat in a small field that has too much deer pressure for soybeans. It was a cooler than average summer & the dc cotton didnt make enough mature bolls to harvest. This cotton was planted in early July. Also, I'm sure there are no gins in your area, so you are going to have to figure out a way to separate the fiber from the seed & then clean the seed. Many times the farmer sells the fiber & the gin keps & sells the seed to cover the cost of ginning.
Based on current prices, you are looking at a huge money loser if you go down this road. Lots of cotton acres will go to beans & corn in this area in 2015 b/c cotton at this prices & our yield potential is very risky in 2015.
