Subject: RE: moisture on hot corn

West central Ohio
Dumping hot corn at 140 degrees. Tester reads about 18.5 to 19%. Subtract 2.2 points moisture for temperature correction for 140 degrees. Moisture should be about 16.5% give or take a half piont. Cool in bin and corn comes out 14.5 to 15.5%. Old, old MC 675 dryer. Old Dole moisture tester. I don't let sample cool. I collect sample in old thermos jugs so it doesn't cool. Bury a digital barbecue thermometer in the corn sample. Give it several minutes to get good temp reading. Tried IR temp gun on surface but doesn't give good reading.
