NW Central Ohio
...is your seed salesman a farmer? Is he over 40 years old? Does he even remember when we used to moldboard plow almost everything in the spring? Do your soils dry out enough to plow/rip 9" deep and work into a nice seedbed? I've got soil here a guy with some talent can plow with a packer...and plant without fitting it. It lays over very nice. So..if your conditions (not your seed salesman) say it will work into an acceptable seedbed...then go ahead and till it the way you like. You say you chopped it last fall? even better...most of the residue is probably laying in the next field or the ditch.
