Chebanse, IL..... | emtbd1979 I kind of agree w/you on auto trans in theory, but the reality I see locally is many farms are going to full & air auto trans semis, both single axles & full 80K rigs. I think all your pop & beer trucks are now auto trans. So, if you get your CDL in 2013 & may never see a stick shift again, what's the point of making them drive a stick? I've always felt that whatever you show up to take a test with, you'd better be able to handle it 100% proficiently. I have a relative serving on a local full time city fire dept. They have 1 stick shift truck left & only 2 people left qualified to drive it. Everything else is auto trans & soon they'll get rid of the stick because of lack of qualified drivers. |
