West Michigan
If you have seen difference maps of side by side fields you instantly lose all faith in small plots. Difference maps show in color the difference between the hybrids. So say red and blue are the colors. The darker the shade of red or blue the more the one hybrid is winning. I have seen fields that have 20+ bushels swings on each end of a 30 acre field but the average of each hybrid for the field is within a bushel of each other. So if you weighed strips or plot on one side of the field the one hybrid wins by 20 bushel but pull the wagon to the other side of the field and the other hybrid wins by 20 bushel.

Replications is the way to get data. Side by sidesis the way to get that. Small plots even with a check dont take out enough of the variabilty
