Subject: Here is my 5.3 view on it's longevity...

I have a 99 silverado with the 5.3....280K miles and the only thing done is the intake manifold gaskets. In the last month, it is starting some oil leaks. Transfercase needs worked on too. But I think I can honestly say I got the goody out of it. I may be in the market for a used half ton crew sometime for a around farm truck, as , at times there are up to 3 or 4 working and need some passenger room.
