The way I understand it, this CI rating system does not look at changes to your practices like other programs. This system gives a score based on how it is produced. So, no till, strip till, manure over synthetic, cover crops, etc. will provide a lower score and thus a higher value product to the producer you describe. Does not matter what farmer has been doing....the long term 30 year farmer will have a scoring advantage over conventional till right away.

I'm participating in a few practice change programs (NRCS/SWH/etc) where its pay for changes on a % of my acres. Not sure which will lead the way long term but trying to be positioned for the future, even if I disagree with the entire concept.
