Subject: RE: Pellet stove, more efficient?

We heat our single story ranch style house with a Harman pellet stove. Put it in a few years ago and have been pleased. It works out well in our house because it sits in the living room fireplace at one end of our house. The heat then is blown out in a straight shot through the room and down the hall to the rest of the house. I use about a bag a day of hardwood pellets, about $5. For me, the hardwood makes less ash and more heat, like a woodstove. We were down in the teens and windy outside before and that stove had us in the 70s inside.

I've wondered about putting it in the basement on high and seeing how that would do. But I didnt think the heat would make it through the floor to upstairs. Maybe it would. We have a few electric baseboard heaters we turn on if we're down there.
