Exactly Kevin, Im not saying SM doesnt have some short comings but in general it has worked for both farmer and consumer. Was looking at pork and chicken specials in store the other day. $1.88/lb both boneless. You think those 2 farmers got the same slice of pie?
Well I know the chicken farmers at the end of the day have a lot more cash than us pork guys........ Sun Brite and Canco (old Heinz plant) now want too bypass mkt. board and negoiate directly with growers (can you say lower prices)...went through that when Carol Mitchell MPP took away Ontario Porks single desk selling with a stroke as 5 or so guys thought they could get a better deal ,in the end 99% got screwed....and lost big time with Quality Meats bankruptcy
