Just how much US-originated imports would they need to discourage before the US exporters would feel the pinch? And what happens if the Brazilians, the Argentinians and who else gets the signal to plant more acres?
Second, the Chinese already have changed their ag. policy with the view to increase soy production and lower corn production. They're heavily subsidizing corn now & have a 110 MMT surplus, can't they just as easily subsidize soybeans?
Finally, is there any reason that the Chinese can't be just as arrogant, proud, stubborn and irrational as Americans? They don't have behave in a way that you perceive as their own best self-interest just because you say so. |
