I started in 1982 and I thought it was a terrible time to start farming then. When I look back now I think it was one of the best times a guy could start farming. When I started I didn't really have anything except some livestock equipment. A lot of my neighbors had plenty of money and paid for land, after about 5 years I had just as much money as a lot of them had. We were all broke. It turned out to be a good time to pick up land to get a start farming. It also made you do a good job of managing.
