USA | One thing you need to remember is a brand can't be patented, only a variety. A lot of soybeans are sold as a brand, some even have bogus variety and patent info on the tag. Should be able to take a sample of the seed purchased and find out if what you bought is what is stated on the tag.
But then again if things ended up in court and had an elevator ticket where a person bought beans , along with a test that showed they were RR1s and the beans growing in the field were proven to be RR1, they are going to need to be able to prove what the variety is.
