| Acres that have been reasonably profitable before record prices and huge insurance will continue to be planted as before (most of the corn belt). Maybe managed a lot different but there will be corn and soybeans there. The only place I see it changing is where the previous 'crop' is financially a better choice - wheat, crp, pasture. etc. Some of these 'fringe' areas were not in corn and beans in the past because it was a sure loser and it looks like those economics are returning (at least for now). We may have to go through a few crop cycles to get there though - maybe there is equity to burn for a while and maybe that equity is tied up in quickly depreciating iron or potentially depreciating land that's not paid for. | |
