East Central Ia, S. Waterloo | A friend and I drove to Fairbanks in '79. It was gravel from mile one to almost Fairbanks, some good road some pretty tore up, like driving across Iowa taking all gravel. We put a moose gooser shield across the front of the Blaser to deflect rocks, the trucks and RV's really kick them up, didn't crack the windshield till just before we got back off, urgg. Had one flat tire.
I believe it's all been paved since then but they are continually repairing spots in the summer.
Great trip, I would highly recommend it but you need to do your research of what to expect. |
