Subject: RE: Agressive Bees

Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS

My brother was using the front blade on the old 4010 to push some honeysuckle and morning glory vines back at the edge of a field. Just as he put it in reverse to back up and get another bite on it he disturbed what I think was a yellow jacket nest. I was down the field a ways on the other tractor. I looked up and the old 4010 was backing across the field all by itself. He bailed off and gave the yellow jackets the tractor. Once it got about half way across the field they finally abandoned the chase and he was able to reclaim the tractor.

It's a good thing I'm not allergic. I've been stung so many times I can't remember all of them. Yellow jackets (two got up my pants leg once), red wasps, "regular" wasps, bumble bees, honey bees, sweat bees, but so far, no hornets (but I have had a few close calls).

I do feel sorry for those who are allergic. As bad as they hurt without being allergic I can't imagine what it feels like to be allergic or to have a whole swarm of them after you. Hornets are the "water moccasins" of the bee world. Just down right mean.
