To answer your four questions, IMHO
#1 Your corn MAY be greener earlier in the summer. That will NOT make you any money tho. Should cost less to grow a decent crop on a poor field, compared to broadcasting.
#2 None
#3 Depends on the fertility of the field.
#4 Yes. anything within 3 foot of the stuff is gonna corrode.
