Thumb of Michigan | When the doctor delivered my much older sister in the house I still live in, the doctor was 'paid' with home made pork sausage. Yikes, my sister is getting old. My next sister, was born at my aunt's house, doc again paid via 'goods', next sister born at old hospital (converted large home), at least I was born in a modern hospital (along with younger brother & sister, in a real brick building, that's still in use today). Doc, got cash for us, even.
Golly, I miss that home made, pork sausage.
