The story at the link was part of a multi-story report in Country Guide about AGCO introducing new high horsepower row crop tractors. Let's give all due credit to Country Guide and the author of the story for a mostly successful effort to cover a large and complicated story.

But as a reader you should not expect that one magazine and one writer -- in a story that was not reviewed by anyone at AGCO before publication -- have gotten all of the details exactly right.

AGCO CEO Richenhagen is on record many times in many forms of media saying AGCO will have four global (as in: "important around the world") brands going forward: Challenger, Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra.  The way the Country Guide story talks about the brands doesn't really synch up with the stated AGCO policy on brands so right there a reader should take the story's statements about AGCO brands with a grain of salt.
