East Central Ia, S. Waterloo | A LOT of what you say is true. But I can still remember when electronic ignition came out and all the emission stuff, it was like magic to the average person. It wasn't long before a few broke it down, then it became common knowledge how it all worked, it was almost simpler than the old stuff. Now with all the computer controls people are learning how to use a computer to diagnose issues and actually work on the computers themselves. There's always a learning curve, don't be to quick to discount American ingenuity. With that said, with all the conveniences being added to machinery and machines it is getting very complicated to know everything about everything and people are getting more specialized in different areas and can't work on every aspect of a machine.
