I do pretty much the same thing as you and agree with your reasoning. I live in the desert and pretty much everything of mine with an engine gets parked inside, so moisture contamination isn't a huge concern. I use a high quality oil and good filters, if something goes 4 years between oil changes because it doesn't get used much, I don't sweat it.
