Pittsburg, Kansas | Dave sent me a couple of links on the mine. We were wondering what the big lined pond was for. I figured it was for leaching something and it is a heap leach field to extract gold.
One excavator loading big off road trucks bringing what looked like red soil to the processing plant. Trucks dumped into a pile where another excavator dumped it into the processing plant. Out of the plant came tailings being taken away by a front end loader then another smaller stream of "pay dirt" being stockpiled for I presume to be hauled to the heap leach pond. The pond had no water in it yet and looked like it had just been constructed. So the operation is in the very beginning of its operations.
