What was the interest rate like under carter?
In 1980, my wife & I camped out all night in the rain in front of a savings & loan building, to get a 9 & 7/8% loan on our first house. The line went around a city block...this was a special deal for first-time buyers, the prevailing rates were close to 20%. In about 1981 0r 82, I bought a 78 Bronco, because I liked them & needed one. interest on that loan was 20%...hard to even believe now... |
