Southeastern Tipton County, Indiana | dairyman78 - 3/4/2021 20:45 A successful president surrounds himself with top shelf advisors and listens to their advice. Reagan had good advisors and listened to them and he ended up being a very good spokesman which is a presidents job. Carter didn't have the best advisors and had a habit of not taking their advice.
I was young and a little clueless at that time but it seemed that often times Jimmy would start out headed in the right direction then somebody would change his mind and he'd do something he had said he wasn't going to do.
So yes, his advisors might have been his downfall.
