coast of Maine | Here no,its way easier and will take the load go 2 ft OC with your 2x16 RS stringers, and strap with 1x4 board. as a rough sawn 1x4 is close to a planed 2x4 thats really 1 1/2 by 3 1/2The elimination of the 2x4 purlins will save you timber in the respect to costs and adding 2 x the load carrying with added stringers, those purlins give minimal snow load and may hinder snow load at 4 ft span as they would sag and pull side force on the wide spaced stringers.I am assuming a metal roof.We once in a great while get that 4 ft dump and 50 mph wind same time leading to some hefty drifts usually one sided,,you wont be shoveling at that time, friend dead off snowy roof shoveling.I tried shoveling one 3 ft deep one winter as rain forecast,,figured there was 120,000 lbs on that roof .near collapse from work, dog came up on roof via snow pile... | |
