Some tanks can have considerable amount of moisture in them, especially if they don't get drained or the air dryer isn't working properly. You usually don't want all of that moisture coming out when using the air hose you are talking about.

I try to plumb them into a port on the upper side of the tank. I have also seen fittings plumbed into the large air line going back on frame rail behind cab, to air level valve and other components. This is easy to do as you cut the factory 1/2 or 5/8 line and install a tee with your favorite air fitting. Use compression fittings for long life. Another benefit to this location is the air fitting lasts longer as it is out of the road grime better than down low on the tanks.


They are purposely put on the low side here to get that crud out of the tank. Put a double male fitting in to purge then connect your hose.
