SCIA | Two thoughts;
1. Tell us your soil composition and the A,B and C strata levels and some of us who do this for more than a hobby can tell you what you need. Like Hoffa said, below, some places need 3" on 20's, some need 4" 0n 40's.
2. I am not a disciple of ISU, as they talk drainage, which is an out dated idea. Today, the best return is on water table management, as, again, evidenced by Hoffa, below. He was draining his fields, at 40' spacings, but, still increased yield by doing water table management.
Water table management is placing you tile at the right distance apart, so that the surface if the field dries out with in 12-15 hours, all the way acrost the field. This levels the hydric curve, of the water table (saturation), in the soil, so that there is no yield drop between each tile line. If, on a yield map, you can see a yield droop between tile lines, they are to far apart.
Now, the hard part, is to know what is the exact right spacing, for your soils. There are several people, on here, who can help you to do this. | |
