There is one other time I would consider it practical. When you have one that you can't catch, or can't catch without really stirring her up and making the meat bad. Peacefully grazing 200 yards away from you and 10 minutes later, she's hanging from a loader. No broken equipment, no injured people, no spoiled meat.
