The abstract for the farm my grandpa was born and raised on states that we own an acre of ground on the other side of the creek. They traded it for a coon dog. Not sure what land prices were at the time to gauge how good of a dog it was. If it was today that would be one heck of a dog. But I’m not much of a coon hunter.
When the railroad (now gone) came through this area, one of the landowners traded the ROW across his farm for a guarantee of a job for both him and his son.
