Ethanol is about portable energy, transportable.

On farm methane digesters would be the key electrical production from farm products.

Unfornuately they appear to not be economically sustainable even for larger dairy farms utilizing them as a waste management tool.

3 and 4 cent per kwh whole electric is the big problem to unsubsidized energy production.
