Our dealer told me definately use the external antenna. He said they had problems when the combine was going away from the tower the grain tank extension would block the signal. On top of a tractor I don't know if there is any improvement or not. I tried both in the same field and they both went into RTK extend behind trees at about the same place. This was at 7 miles from base.
