When we buy new equipment we have learned to use JD break in oil for the first 2 oil changes. These are larger engines than a 4230 but have learned when we run 2 changes for total of 200-250 hrs we have hardly any oil consumption moving forward. The times we have only run the original break in oil for the first 100 hrs it seems oil consumption has been greater than I like.
