Faunsdale, AL | Hurricane Zeta came barreling through last night with 75 mph winds peaking just before 1am.
I think the center of circulation passed just to the south and east of us about 10 miles. So, we were in the left front quadrant of the approaching storm. We had a few small trees down, more big limbs than anything and got about 3-1/2” rain. Demopolis is 10 miles or so farther to the NW and had minimal damage to trees and structures, seemingly even less than here.
Selma is about 45 miles to the East which put it in the right front quadrant of the storm and it got hammered! Lots of power poles snapped half way up and trees uprooted taking down the lines where the poles didn’t snap! Most damage will be from trees falling on vehicles and houses etc.
Lots of cotton still in the field and quite a few soybeans as well. We’ve had more spots of green beans than I’ve ever seen.
