| Needed to update our cell phones and went into Sams yesterday. We picked out a couple phones and the salesman said great, they are running a program where you trade in your old phone (ours were 3 years old and about 4 generations old) and they take $180 off per phone, or $6 per month if you pay for them on the monthly plan on your cell bill.
So we start through the paperwork and at one point the salesman explains that the new phones are 5G phones so we need to upgrade to 5G lines on our monthly plan, for another $50 a month over what we are paying now for 5 phones on our plan. "if you have 5G phones, you need 5G lines" he explained.
At that point I stop him and tell him one of our kids whose on our plan upgraded to a 5G phone a few months ago and we didnt need to change our plan. He then backpeddled and said, "well, because Sams discounts the phones so much, the extra line fee is how they make up for that"
At that point negotiatons ended and we walked out without phones. We ordered the same phones from Best Buy, for the same price Sams quoted, without a $50 per month line "upgrade"
