SW Ont | Forcing the cell co's make cell phone numbers portable has helped (in Ontario) to make things more competitive.
Another thing they don't usually point out (in Ontario) is that after you have had the phone long enough that it is paid for (the end of the fixed contract period) that the monthly payment can be reduced ---- BUT only if you call them to get it reduced.
Of course, this means that in the last month of so before the contact is ending, they send lots of notices that you are now eligible for a phone upgrade - in hopes of getting a fresh contract signed so to keep payments higher to cover the cost of the new phone.
No mention of the choice to reduce monthly cost by continuing to use the existing phone. | |
