Northeastern Pa | Penn state recommended the lower rate. I will bet my farm on it. I use spectrum. Their potash recommendation is based on a several year build up program. When I sent to penn state all I ever got back was apply 200 lbs n for corn and that was it. There is three loyal penn state farmers that I know of locally. I don’t know what their crop yields but none of them ever have pretty looking crops!!!! I know retirement is not to far in the future for you so I think the right answer is somewhere in the middle of the two recommendations A crop is no different then a steer or a pig. If you want it to grow, it needs to be fed. On our own farm we started using different types of manure. We are applying higher amounts of nutrients then we would normally with commercial fertilizer and we can really see the difference. | |
