central mich | Not a bad way to solve the task. We had some issues with our 1/4 shear about a year ago so it has been idle. It was an old cam over . But this week we got an Adira hydraulic shear which will shear 5/32 in and that will be good for 90% of work we do. And we have a 8 ft hydraulic press brake which will handle 10 gauge as well. And we have a set of 6 ft rolls that can roll 3/16 in. With the steel we have in stock and the machines it all takes up space.
I think the Adira may be capable of shearing 3/16 in 4ft widths but I dont want to break it either. The brake has optional dies to bend heavier but again I dont want to break it.
For heavy sheet our steel supplier can shear and brake 3/4 in.
