My indifference to using used engine oil has to do with draining the oil into a less than clean bucket or container then putting that oil on a filter gasket. Not if you are using a very clean bucket go for it. I'll use clean oil. I'm not worried about the cost of the very small amount of oil used. Cost about $34,000 to overhaul a 13.5 liter JD engine. Why risk it.
